Nordhavn 68' Sans Souci

Sans Souci’s custom interior is a nod to the classic luxury yacht style of the Gilded Age. When owners Roberta and Ken Williams placed the order for this Nordhavn 68’ #1 hull, they went to Scott Cole of Ardeo Design to develop a style reminiscent of early-20th century motor yachts, while maintaining all the comforts of a 21st century vessel. As guests come aboard, they encounter handcrafted teak joinery, exquisite hand selected veneers, and white beadboard overhead with wood beams. A beautiful staircase with a classic banister and balustrades, teak plank flooring, and leaded glass all work together to transport you back in time.

Entering the salon from the spacious aft deck, eyes are immediately drawn to the antique rug that anchors the space. An inviting seating area creates a relaxed space for lounging, while a handcrafted formal dining table that seats six sits ready for the more formal dining occasion. The space was smartly designed to offer comfortable accommodations while still sparing room to easily maneuver throughout the main deck. Just forward of the salon is the galley, replete with Viking and Sub-Zero appliances, abundant overhead and under counter storage, and granite countertops with three luxuriously upholstered bar stools aft. Up the staircase, the pilot house and flybridge await.

Forward and to port of the salon is the owners’ full-beam suite, featuring a king-size bed, a television mounted behind a retractable framed art panel, and an ensuite head with a marble-tiled shower and private water closet. The lower deck offers a VIP stateroom with an ensuite head, a guest stateroom with stacked single berths, and another head with shower.

I am very happy with the results and the main comment Ken and I- and our guests- have is that it is a very comfortable boat. I wanted it to feel comfortable and cozy- like a home. Inside, even though obviously you know that you are on a boat, it also has a homey feel and that was important to me.
